CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD if you used Legends of Equestria - Data Breach by

In case you missed it earlier, if you have a Legends of Equestria account, you better change the password on any of your associated accounts that you may have used the same password.

From LOE:

This is an urgent message to anyone with an LoE account. A short time ago, Legends of Equestria suffered a malicious cyberattack, and we believe that compromising account information has been accessed. We therefore strongly recommend that everyone who used the same password on our forum (and therefore for their game account) anywhere else to change that password immediately. This is a safety precaution; we do not store passwords themselves in plain text, but the information that may have been compromised could allow simpler passwords to be brute-forced.

We are currently locking down all production until we can guarantee the safety of all team members and players, and our forum will be offline until we’re certain that we’re secure. We will require a mandatory password reset on LoE itself for all account holders, but we still strongly urge you all to change your passwords on other services if they’re the same as your LoE password. We can only apologise for this, and continue working until we can guarantee everyone’s safety once more.

If you used your LoE password anywhere else, for your own safety, please change it IMMEDIATELY.

"Not sure why our PR person for the Amino and Steam pages decided they could speak authoritatively on something the actual teams involved are still unsure of, but regardless, that statement is inaccurate. We're not certain how that password was accessed, and are trying to work it out and make sure everything is safe. As soon as we know details and we're sure we're secure, we'll share the details and make sure we take whatever steps necessary to try and prevent this, or similar, attacks from succeeding in the future."

  2. "We are currently locking down all production"
wtf? For what, a DDOS and a database steal?
How is that even remotely connected to game production?

    1. I suspect they mean "production environment", which is an IT term for an information system (website, application, game, etc) that is in actual live use and available to customers/clients/end users.

    2. Former staff member here.

They like to use terms to make LoE sound important. Honestly they could of just said they're putting the game on pause/hold. It's srs business.

    3. "Production" means the production environment, as in the actual facing-the-public database. It means no one can log in. Think before posting next time, it no wonder you're "former staff".

    4. There's no reason to forget that a "fan" project should be serious endeavor. If you dig deep to see how far the rabbit hole goes you'll realize it's all smoke and mirrors.

I should add the programmers took my job because they had nothing to do.

    5. I think I meant shouldn't. Hm. Sarcasm would work in either context but Internet.

  4. Going through the back of my head since I don't know if I have the files (I doubt I do) but during one of the OSWs the part of the forums that were used to log user bans was posted on /mlp/. It was confirmed genuine but it was never looked into where or what happened for it to get there.

    1. I don't think they listen to reason...I mean...They're doing an MMO for Celestia's sake.

    2. I see you used to be a former member as well. I got sick of the sexism and exposed it :P

    3. Oh, I remember the sexism early on in my role. However since half of it was because my 'boss' had a waifu it was hard to prove it except for the other female member who quickly dropped it.

I eventually brought it up, but since I knew said team member overruled every policy in existence I simply left and asked to be removed from the memorial page.
