Meet Molly - the MLP MDMA Mare by

That's what we're calling her from here on out. Forget this whole "Pacific Glow" garbage.

It's quite amazing that Hasbro is so afraid of using the name "Derpy" officially, because they incorrectly assume it has something to do with being mentally disabled, yet they let this one slip through. Up there, around Molly's (the Pinkie Pie clone with the glow stick cutie mark) neck is a pacifier.
Why does that matter?
Because it means she's tripping on ecstasy in this scene.

Awesome.

For those of you who don't know, the rave-drug commonly known as "ecstasy" (or MDMA) has a side-effect of teeth-grinding. In order to overcome this, users commonly suck on pacifiers and teething rings to prevent damage to their jaws.

Here's an ABC news article referencing their widely-known application in the drug world.

So there you have it, Molly is gettin turnt on Molly.

  1. Look, I don't care what anyone wants to call her, just give me more art of her. I want to see her sucking that pacifier seductively.

We get it Larry, "get-er-dun". You have one catchphrase and you'll be damned if you give up on it, right? :)

  3. I remember when the adult references were auditory and not visual. The idea is to 'go over the kids' head not smack them in the face.

    1. You obviously never watched Animaniacs then.

    2. Animaniacs, Histeria! and a whole bunch of WB stuff are things you could never pull off in the 21st century.

I was referring to MLP:FiM itself.

    3. What, like the references to "The Big Lebowski?"

You're implying that kids have watched "Pulp Fiction," by the way. If you haven't seen the movie, that's going to go over your head. Or did you mean that little kids already know about the pacifier/MDMA connection?

    4. As far as I know the pederast was patched out of the Gameloft game except for those that already obtained him, so by all means people were NOT happy about that sort of reference in a kids' game. I'm sure the show would be similar but not enough to really reanimate since it was two seconds.

I was referring to the idea that things kids see are more or less able to stick to a their head rather than something they say. Like Fluttershy's sex tips and Puff the Magic Dragon in season 1. As far as I remember (granted the fandom was at its infancy) no one made a bit deal out of those things.

Key note: Season 1 did it right.

Pardon? Granted, it's been a while since I've last seen S1 episodes or discussed them, but I don't think I've ever heard of anything like that.

    7. Season 1 Episode 16: Sonic Rainbow

Rainbow Dash: Now, what have we learned?
      Fluttershy: Loss of control.
      Rainbow Dash: Good.
      Fluttershy: Screaming and hollering.
Rainbow Dash: Yes, and most importantly.
      Fluttershy: Passion!

Of course, with the mind it's easy to interpret what is heard a ton of different ways.

  4. ...translucent plastic parcifers on necklaces are more of a 90s kids fashion thing than anything else.

    1. Thats because raves were really popular in the 90s and so was ecstasy. 90s kids grew up seeing images of teens and 20-somethings wearing the pacifiers and thought they looked cool, having no idea that they were for drug use

    2. This. Pacifies have become a fashion item, where people wear them having no idea what the original purpose was. For this pony to have a pacifier means exactly and precisely absolutely nothing.
But, everyone's headcanon is their own.

  6. What bothered me more than the pacifier (which didn't bother me) was the fact there were only three people dancing. What a shitty club, Vinyl must be a terrible DJ.

    2. Some of the best DJs can be reallllly niche. So while you have some shitty music that millions of people go absolutely gaga over, you can also have great stuff that only a few people turn up for.
