Big Con gets Larson and the BlueFast / Background Horse noise maker by

That one horse looks terrified. Maybe she's aware that "Mal" is Spanish for "bad". Anyway, Baltimore Con has 2 announcements - they got Larson and Ashleigh Ball. I mean, you can open the rest of the message, but that's the important thing to take away here.

(BALTIMORE)—BronyCon is excited to announce voice actress Ashleigh Ball will join its five-year anniversary celebration this July 8-10 making BronyCon the first event to have every “Mane Six” actress appear in person!

Ball is best known in the fandom as the voices of Rainbow Dash and Applejack in “My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic,” where she also voices Lyra and other various characters. She has also done voice roles for other animations such as “Littlest Pet Shop,” “Strawberry Shortcake’s Berry Bitty Adventures,” “Iron Man: Armored Adventures” and “Voltron Force.”

  1. Honestly though...I feel like it's a bad thing in general. The biggest problem I had with BronyCon when I went in 2014 (besides what I *think* is having the exact same types of panels at the same time rather than cascading but I'm probably full of shit on that one) is that if cons expend all the resources now then they gotta find more to harvest later on...Or something.

  3. I don't give two shits about horse conventions anymore. Does anyone really care about seeing the damn actors in 2016? I've been to 4 cons in my life. Too much hype. Too much ego. All just a bunch of bullshit.

    > making BronyCon the first event to have every “Mane Six” actress appear in person!

Not only is this not true at all (one other non-pony con had the Mane Six together already), but it's only true in the pony world because of a really sad, really fucked-up situation that everyone seems content to hide.

BABSCon 2014 was originally supposed to have the entire "Mane Six" present at the event. However, at what seemed like the last minute, Tabitha St. Germain (Rarity) backed out, and instead was only seen via Skype. The official story was that she had a work conflict that kept her from going.

The real story, though, was that Tabitha, a Canadian Liberal notoriously spooked by gun ownership in general, was literally scared away from BABSCon 2014 by a single fan of hers. This fan didn't make any threats to her (and was in fact very happy at the prospect of seeing someone he respected so greatly), but because she saw in his profile that he was a bipolar gun enthusiast, she freaked out and backed out of attending the con entirely. Since the guy hadn't actually done anything wrong in the first place, the con wasn't going to pull his badge just because Tabitha said so, so instead she simply refused to go.

It's a sad story, but it would've ended there, had someone in BABScon staff not totally dropped the fucking ball and actually TOLD the bipolar fan in question that *they* were the sole reason Tabitha was scared away from the con. As you can imagine, even telling a well-adjusted person this kind of truth would hit them really hard, but for a person already fighting their own emotions, it predictably made him dangerously suicidal. He was on the verge of killing himself, and the con had to do some major damage control to stop this from happening. Nonetheless, it still totally crushed his spirits.

Here we are, two years later, with BronyCon bragging that they're the "first event" to have the Mane 6 "in person", basing their entire marketing on a fact that's only partly true because of a really sad, fucked up situation that nearly cost a young man his life.

BronyCon doesn't want you to know that, and BABSCon doesn't want you to know that either, but there you go. The real story is a lot sadder than all this sparkly marketing hype is letting on.

You want to know the really fucked up part, though?

More than one person in BronyCon administration is completely aware of this story and what happened, and went ahead with this promotion at its expense anyway. In fact, a LOT of people working with a LOT of groups know this, and have been hiding it from you for years. Even some Horse News staffers knew about it before posting this very press release.

It's always secrets and lies with these ponies.

Conspiracy nuttery brought to you by Silver Eagle himself. He deleted his Twitter after his attempt at calling out Tabitha there backfired hilariously. If you're still around mate, I'd love to see a shred of evidence.

Comickaze in 2014 had a panel with all of the mane 6 VAs, and all of them showed up in person.

Silver Eagle, please go. You removed yourself from Twitter, now remove yourself in general too.

  5. If it's Tabitha who made the request I'll respect it (although, with what I've seen on her Twitter she ought to be a bit more careful). Otherwise censorship is the easiest way to kill respect for actual news.

    2. Fair enough. I haven't been on Twitter at all lately so my bad.

You'd think people would have enough brains to realize you shouldn't click that post button but then again this is that bagel we're talking about.

  6. Did all the HN staff die or something? It's been 6 days without any new articles. I get that if there's nothing to post about then there's nothing to post about. But I want my pony drama damn it! I mean, news. Pony news.
