Big Mac in a Dress Sparks Predictable Outrage Over "Transphobia" by

You hope that Jim, but unfortunately you're mistaken.

So in the episode "Brotherhooves Social", Big Macintosh puts on a dress to pose as a girl, in order to compete in the Sisterhooves Social with his baby sister Applebloom. Why he does this is simply because he's willing to do anything it takes to become her hero again. So a boy posed as a girl to make the plot work, and that's a tale as old as time, and is no new concept to the world of cartoons.

What IS a new concept to the world of cartoons, is the predictable outrage that it brought from some people who saw Big Mac's crossdressing as an attack or insult on the Transsexual / Transgender ect ect community.

We've sung this song and danced this dance before, let's just look at what the lyrics say this time.

Actually, before we begin does anyone want to watch the cartoon where someone poses as an unknown family member of the opposite sex/gender, in order to be a hero for their family? Here's a link to the episode.

Oh oops. Sorry. That's a link to Disney's award-winning 1998 masterpiece Mulan.

Anyway lets look at some rage.

At the time of posting, this was the number 1 result on tumblr for the phrase "transphobia"

Now that we've gotten all that out of the way, can we ask is anyone shocked at the response?

It is important to note that it's a very vocal minority making these claims that the episode was an attack on the Trans community.

There were many members of both communities that found the episode enjoyable, and took it for what it is - a brother trying to connect with his sister by the only method he could find - helping her compete in an event that was believed to be for fillies and mares only. In the end it turns out he might have misjudged the requirements for participation, which is of-itself funny, as it all could have been avoided simply by asking permission.

In the war for rights and equality, one must wonder if this is a time where no one knows what side they're on, or even where the battle is taking place.

Tune in next time. Because there's always a next time.

  2. When I first saw the preview this sort of thing was the first thing that comes to mind. Now, I don't consider myself transphobic but I consider myself a person that has always looked at my surroundings before doing something. I'm weird like that.

I'm kind of in that mindset that if this was done 5 to 10 years ago it wouldn't have the reaction it does today. I don't know. I still look at the fact that a 'children's show' has so much going against it in today's times that I wonder if we still had the educational barriers that weren't lifted in season 2 if this was ever allowed to fly.

I might not be watching SU as much as I thought. I've got the "gay ally" thing with Ruby & Sapphire being Garnet, as well as Pearl being in love with Rose, but where exactly was there anything trans on the show? B/C I thought the latest episodes were all about pissing Lapis fans off by making Peridot the new Gem in town.

Also, that one drama comment with someone with smudging mascara surrounded by statements on hating Rick & Morty. Lol.

    2. ...That's it? I would've thought it'd be about the Stevonnie fusion, which doesn't really count as trans-ing.

So when Steven dressed up in a dress to save Sadie from having to sing in front of a crowd, that's being trans ally. But when Big Mac dresses up in a dress and pretends he's a girl to try to remind his little sister that he's even alive and to keep her from being disappointed, that's trans phobia.

...I fucking hate people some... most times.

    4. "I think it has to do with Steven fusing with Connie to create Stevonnie. And the breakdown Stevonnie went through during a rave party."

Fusion does NOT count as being/becoming trans. Fusion, no matter what franchise, is the act of two people merging identities into one. Being trans is, and forgive if I don't get it EXACTLY right, is identifying with a gender that is not the one you were born with/assigned/whatever.

Stevonnie was a woman made from two ~10 cisgengered children, one of whom was a male, who wound up being hit on by an older teen, who was unknown to any of said children; of whom both of which were not attracted to, causing said freak out and de-fuse.

What, next you're gonna say that people think the Old Kai is transgendered, or that Goku/Vegeta and Trunks/Goten are legimate slash pairings because they've fucking fused in the past. And I know; DBZ was just the first example which popped in my head.

That being said, some people are very sensitive and feel hurt by the episode. Don't attack them. They are hurting already. Trolling these people is just cruel.

      Delete
    2. I would assume that transmisogyny refers to people that specifically hate trans-women, which yeah totally exists. Though when I see the word transphobic my literal side sees it as those of a fear of transgender individual, but I know that like with homophobic it means those with a prejudice. I would have to imagine that transmisandry would also have to exist, but as we do not see much attention towards transgender men, it would make sense this term would not pop up as often.

They're not "hurting" they complain. They whine. They want MLP to have no cross dress/fat/derpy/Coco Pommel in it anymore. And when THAT get people against them, they whine that everybody hate them.

  20. This kinda of made me think of a few movies Ms.Doubtfire for example. i don't see how this effects trans, now crossdresser yes,the point of the episode was because big mac felt dejected by applebloom so he decided to do whatever he could to get back that closeness he had when he was her hero. He was successful, but we learned one thing he could have gone as himself rather then lying and his sportsmanship was like the old rainbowdash.however he tried to do the right thing the best he could,
it makes me wonder if any other stallions have tried the same thing as big mac? Now i have got a imagine in my head if anyone could partcipate since the rules on a sister is open maud and rock, discord, twilight and candance,Princess luna and Princess Celestia.

    1. Well maybe if they put aside any preconceived butthurt, they would have noted the fact that one of the judges explicitly said that they have a very loose policy as to what counts as being a sister. Meaning that trans sisters, friends and relatives could very well participate. Further evidence is that the judges knew that Big Mac was playing the role of a mare the whole time, yet they did not intervene. Big Mac and his sister were disqualified because of his bad "sportsponyship" in the end, not because trans ponies aren't allowed in the event, much less Equestria.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I can't wait for the day when SU finally does something to offend SJWs and they turn on it too. We all know it's inevitable. That's the dangerous line one walks when they try to court a crowd of psychos like this. Tumblr are like sharks. The moment one of their own kind falls out of line and they smell blood, they'll frenzy. And their allies and heroes like Rebecca Sugar are especially susceptible to this, because as long as they're not actually one of them, they'll always be vulnerable to accusations and attacks.

People can suck up to SJWs all they like, and they can spend every day and night flogging themselves and pouring salt into their own open wounds in recompense for being born "privileged" if they want to, and it might please their masters for a time, but it won't help them in the end. Deep down, SJWs will always resent them for being men, will never stop hating them for being white, and will never forgive them for not sharing their various mental issues. Ultimately, all these people do is subject themselves to long-term misery for no real reward.

    2. No, "trans" children do not exist. This convoluted concept of "gender identity" is far too complicated for a child to understand. And if their tranny parent forced them to learn it, then I glare at them for brainwashing their children into a tumblr lifestyle.

    5. I hate to side against you on this one, anon, but trans children actually are a thing. As much as Tumblr likes to make up new genders to be trendy, gender dysphoria is a real mental illness, and unless I'm mistaken, it is something that one lives with their whole lives, so yes, there would be children with it. It's just not as obvious because A) like you said, most kids don't understand that shit, and so don't go around crossdressing in public, telling others to check their privilege, and B) most parents probably hold out hope for as long as they can that it's just a phase that will pass, because frankly, with kids, that's a very real possibility most of the time.

But once those kids become rebellious teenagers, then they start indulging themselves, since mommy and daddy can't stop them anymore, and coincidentally, that's probably about the same time that they'll discover Tumblr and other social media. Really, it's no wonder that so many trannies become SJWs.

  35. Most of these comment seem to point out the problem is from how the ponies react to big mac doing a crossdress-thingy. The episode has nothing to do with being trans, the ponies are weird out by Big mac and Apple Bloom performance and moslty the googfy looking Big Mac. To make a point, If you see someone wearing a furry suit and walking look a dog on the streets of a big city, would you be weird out too? (This is just an example, I have nothing against furries)

They were called "Crusaders", and besides they killed people who didn´t think like them, at least they had cool armors and weapons, and were highly trained warriors. Today, our "Crusaders" call themselves "Social Justice Warriors". But they are not warriors; they are a bunch of embittered brats who want to feel offended for every little shit that appears in the TV and the internet, in causes nobody cares for and defending people who didn´t ask for their "help" in the first place. Their armors are layers of fat, and their weapons are Cheetos-stained computer keyboards They don´t kill the responsibles, because they are just crying babys and not real Crusaders, but they feel the need to complain about their shit in every available space in the internet, because they are the most righteous and the world needs to know it.

Hope a time distortion send all of them to the Middle Age Crusades, and some knights trample them to pulp.
