It's no secret that My Little Pony shares much in common with the Power Puff Girls cartoon of the late 90's. They share many of the same staff, including Lauren Faust and Tara Strong, and even bridged the same gender gaps in its audience, attracting a large male following despite being a "girl's cartoon".
It should come as no surprise that drama from Power Puff land should spill over into our neck of the woods. Let's take a look at the shitstorm, still in progress.
The only voice talent that was invited to return to the program is that of Tom Kenny who voiced the Mayor as well as the Announcer in the original series.
None of the original star actresses were invited to reprise their iconic roles, with Cartoon Network choosing to cast Amanda Leighton, Kristen Li, and Natalie Palamides instead.
You would know them as being "literally who?" from that show "what?"
Leighton was on a show called "Filthy Sexy Teen$",
Natalie Palamides played "Sluts the Cat" on The Brat Cave,
and Li worked in a casting office.
This could become very entertaining very quickly.
Because Horse Fans can't keep their fingers out of anything, every single tweet on the subject has been flooded with both support and disdain for the voice actresses, who have been shut out of their own show without a single warning. So many in fact that Tara saw fit to clarify with this statement.
So what do you think? Is it bullshit that the VA's have been replaced by "Filthy Sexy Teen$" and "Sluts the Cat"? Or should they be more supportive of their replacements?
Lets look at some of the comments.
