Following this week's release of "Fall of the Empire", Silly Filly Studios will be the next major fandom entity to jump ship on the community.
According to a series of posts on tumblr from the Studio itself, as well as by lead animator Zedrin, the group is pulling the plug on ponies and moving on to "bigger" and better things.
Fall of the Crystal Empire, which was released to a very divided reception in the community, marks, according to this post from the end of March, the last pony project from the studios, which previously released such widely-viewed animations as Snowdrop.
The animation scored well with many Youtubers, but suffered a deluge of criticism from places like /mlp/, with comments ranging from "shit/10" to "Fuck you all. I liked it." Nonetheless, the "nays" on the board outnumbered the "yea's", and anons voiced their comments to Zedrin, the head animator, who responded, largely by saying that he doesn't care about ponies any more.
"I’ve already said, I stopped caring a long time ago about the fandom. I just wanted the video done so I can actually work on something that I actually cared about again. If /mlp/ cares that much about my work, that’s their prerogative."This won't be the last appearance of Silly Filly Studios in the community, at least not yet, they are confirmed to have a panel at Bronycon 2014, though what they will be presenting is yet unknown.
As for what comes next for the studio, they're not saying publicly. All that is for certain, is that they are done with ponies.
